You may like it chrome wheeled, fuel injected, and steppin’ out over the line, but don’t step too far! Even if you’re careful, the broken heroes on a last-chance power drive might not be. You were born to run, not born to crash! But sometimes, things are out of our control. What do you do if you’ve had a motorcycle accident?
First Things First
Right after an accident, the first thing you do is make sure you’re OK. Don’t assume you are if you don’t feel initial pain. You may still be hyped up on adrenaline and not registering pain. Make sure you’re safe, and so is everyone else. Humans before hogs! If a person is not in immediate danger, you may want to get a paramedic to carry them away safely. Call 911 to report the accident. Exchange insurance information with other parties involved. At this point, you can start gathering evidence. Take pictures of your bike, other vehicles involved, and the accident scene. Get the names and contact information of witnesses. Once that’s done, you may want to contact a lawyer in case this comes to trial.
Hopefully, you were wearing a helmet and other protective gear. Not only is it the law in Georgia to wear appropriate headgear while operating a motorcycle, but it can reduce injury and even save your life.
